Meet Sarah

Sarah is an Independent Education Consultant with over 30 years of experience working with students and their families. Sarah has a B.A from Brown University in History; a Master’s in Education from Harvard University in Adolescent Psychology and Development; a Master’s in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University and a Doctorate in Education from Mills College in Educational Leadership.

She has served as a College Readiness Advisor, coached teachers and principals, taught History at public, private and International Schools, and led schools in roles such as Assistant Principal and Director of Curriculum & Instruction & Assessment in California public schools. She ran a non-profit for urban youth in Cambridge, MA and worked as a Senior Education Researcher at WestEd in San Francisco for a decade.

She is a college counselor with The Short List (NYC) and also an independent educational consultant. She is a member of NACAC and has a California College Counseling Certificate from UC San Diego.

Her career has been dedicated to advancing equity and learning opportunities for all students. In her spare time she can be found kayaking and hiking with her teenage daughter.

Academic Course Planning

Sarah works with high school students and their families to review high school course selections and transcripts to ensure a-g course completion for UC/CSU schools.

Create Your College List, Prepare For Campus Visits & Interviews

Sarah guides students through the process of applying to college—providing the project management and support students need. Together we will investigate and curate a list of schools including target and safety schools to explore. We will work together to find the schools best suited to high school students’ unique interests and preferences.

Application Essay Coaching

Sarah offers personalized essay support for students as they write their essays and draft college applications. This includes brainstorming, strategic review, editing feedback on college essay drafts.

She offers virtual and in-person essay writing series for high school seniors.

She provides coaching to keep students on track for deadlines with weekly check-in meetings.
